By K&N intake, I'm assuming you mean a drop-in filter? If so, a CAI will provide MUCH more HP than a drop-in.
There are many to choose from... the more popular ones are aFe and Duane's 3rd Strike CAI.
Here's some reading for you to get an idea on the aFe (I'll let Duane talk about his CAI)

aFe High Breather article

aFe Magnum Force

The Magnum looks like it sits real low. No problems with it being that low?!

According to their website... the K&N provides a little over 10 HP - not bad, but you can do better

The aFe Magnum Force provides 20 HP/24 ftlbs @ 4000 rpm.

Not unless you travel through 1-2 feet of water regularly
