Hood Replacement

Hi all,

Just trying to learn from the masters again (that would be you reading this post ).

So I want to replace my factory hood with one that has some mean / aggressive looking (and functioning) air intakes. I have been looking online and what I have seen looks like cheap plastic ****

So what is your recommendations of a manufacturer of a new hood? Or even a few websites to get me started.

Thanks!

You can probably find some older posts with pics in the exterior/body section of the forum .
If the factory R/T hood will fit your truck - it could probably be made functional for your application. I agree - I would stay with carbon fiber or steel hoods IMO.

Keep us informed of your selection and .

You can go with a steel replacement hood, like the ones produced by Reflexxion Automotive Products. That is my plan for a replacement hood for my 2007.
You can also check with Jegs, they sell the Key Parts Cowl Induction Hood.
You can also Google "steel hood for xxxx Dodge Ram". That should get you started. Good luck in your search.
I have owned a truck with a fiberglass hood on it, I really don't recommend them. The Carbon Fibre Hoods are fantastic, but the cost is VERY high.

What don't you like about your fiberglass hood?

This is the hood I was thinking of going with. AmeriHood.com | Dodge Ram 1500 2009-2014 Type-SSK Style Functional Ram Air Hood | Ram 1500 | Dodge

I did the google search before I posted and it just kept coming up with the same [email protected]

I've had my fiberglass hood going on 5 years. No issues at all. I think as long as it's preped and painted properly you shouldn't have any issues. Body work tends to follow the "You get what you pay for" philosophy.
