Sorry if this has been covered before but I'm wondering if you guys see your idle drop after installing a CAI -- I put a homemade one on the 03 4.7 I used to have and it dropped the rpms by 100.

I'm asking because my stock hemi already idles @ 500 when sitting at red lights, and I don't want it stalling every time I come to a stop...

The target idle is set by the PCM. Using the SC on a 07 I think you can also adjust the idle. Maybe someone who knows for sure will post up.

thanks for the response, Greg. My research leads me to believe you can adjust the idle while in Park but it resets to factory when you shift to Drive or turn the truck off? Can someone confirm this?

I know with Diablo you can set idle rpm in p/n and in drive.

I've been trying to research the idle adjustment but can't find anything concrete about it. As Greg mentioned, the idle may be adjustable with the Superchips; if that's the case my original question regarding the CAI lowering it is a moot point!

Thanks guys, and David, I need to know how/where you got that hood/hoodscoop!

The SuperChip website isn't very informative. I don't see how they can expect to sell their tuner if they don't lay out the various functions by vehicle. I must be missing something there. I don't have idle adjustment available on my 03 but thought I read somewhere that 04 and up did. Might be mixing DSP/SC information. IDK The PCM automatically returns to the vehicle's target idle. This target will change depending on conditions sent to the PCM such as cold engine, AC on and power steering load. 4.7 with a cable driven TB may well have an idle adjustment screw. As for the hemi, the PCM has total control over idle and you will not easily change the idle without trickery or tuner.

Greg, I read all 3200+ posts on another forum about the Superchips, and I believe I saw your name there...

do you like your superchips? I bought the 3865 flashpaq. This will be my first experience with a tuner so I guess I'm a "noob."

I have been a member of a lot of forums over the years. I'm still on a few other than HTC, but I mostly post here. I bought the SC3865 because at that moment I couldn't lay hands on a SC3815. The SC3865 is over kill for the 03 hemi. SuperChip has always done what they advertised and I have never had a problem with the two SC tuners that I have owned. They have limited capabilities for the 03 but so does everyone else. The benefit is adjustable rpm/speed limiters and the SC adds timing at idle to help with the larger cam. I use a piggyback PSC1 tuner to pull and add fuel were needed. I use the 91 canned tune with 93 octane gas. A -20 degree IAT sensor and 180 thermostat. This all adds timing to the engine. And along with the high idle mod the truck is completely streetable without issues. So yes I like the SC for what it does.

yeah, I was kinda glad I got rid of my 03 when I was reading about all the support everyone BUT them was going to get (plus it was a 4.7).

That's a sweet truck you got there though, maybe I'll see you flying around VB sometime when the wife's visiting family & you're not in the Phillippines

I'm hoping the tuner will be here next week, I'll have alot of learning and playing to do!
