CAI to throttle body or CAI to hemi hat

I can't speak on all the CAIs out there, but I can tell you this: aFe makes two different CAIs for the Hemi Ram... one connects directly to the TB, the other connects from the "Hemi Hat". The one connecting directly to the TB put an additional 10 HP to the rear wheels.

Not only was it loud, but I could fit three suitcases in it

Sorry... had to do it! The Gibson Super Truck was pretty loud... if stock is a "1" and 10 is the max, the ST was a "7" (but only at WOT).

how does the one that goes directly to the TB gain more horespower?(not disagreeing, just wondering) Isn't the inside a smooth curve, so there shouldn't be any restriction?.

No, it isn't. There are side chambers designed to eliminate resonance and make the intake quiet, but they also introduce a significant amount of turbulence. Ditch the hat.

darnit. I just got my ebay one, but I was worried about the sensor so I kept the hat.

All of the aftermarket CAIs have a hole with a rubber grommett for the sensor.
