Installed LED backup lights

I replaced the backup light bulbs with LED bulbs that are nice and bright. There's only one issue. The instrument panel indicates that the backup lights are out. Is there something I can do to correct that or am I going to have to put the stock bulbs back in?

You will need to add a resistor to the reverse light wires an led does not have the same load a standard bulb has basically you need to trick it

Measure resistance of old bulb across contacts and new bulb and buy a resistor set(one for each side) that makes up the diff and light should go out

That's odd because one of the guys over on another RAM forum said it was a Plug-N-Play installation.

In either case the message in the instrument panel, "Backup Bulb Out" must have made an automatic correction because it didn't come on this morning.

Question

I can only add that the RECON LED tail lights and their LED backup replacement bulbs work perfectly with no alterations in my '05. You just need to make certain that they are plugged-in the correct way because they are polarity sensitive .

You are correct. The failure cold has shown its ugly head again. I've removed the LED's and re-installed the stock bulbs. I guess it's limited what can be done to these trucks without some kind of modification to the system.

Got my Superbrightleds in

Got my new LED backup lights installed today as well as my 3rd brake light.
Very happy with the backup lights. Not impressed with the brake light.

These are the 3157-W26-CBT in white. back up bulbs.
The brake light is WLED-R9-CBT in red.

No codes since these come white the resistor already installed in them.
The still shots on the second pic. it has one LED and one reg. bulb
