I probably already know the answer but, won't the smooth taillights from an '06 model fit an '07 model. I'm thinking they should.

The housings will snap in perfectly (just interchange the studs). It's the wiring/connectors that are not the same. We did a write up a year or more ago on rancher's tail light install (installing 06 style tails on an 08). I can't do a search very easily on my phone now... Maybe Dave will swing by in a few and find it for us.

It is possible, but you will need to do some splicing.

I purchased a 2007 Ram 1500 Quad Cab, and I decided to install Anzio LED Tail Lights. I ordered the new lights and discovered they wouldn't hook up to my wiring connectors. I found out that the previous owner had changed the goggle eye tail lights installing the smooth lens 2006 tail lights, complete with the 2006 wiring connectors. I ordered Anzio LED tail lights for 2002 to 2006 models and they fit perfectly on my 2007. Simple plug and play LED tail lights that are super bright. The brake light will blind you. Now I am going to sell the 2007 to 2009 LED tail lights.

Don't know why Dodge decided to copy GM during those years.
