So two of the eBay sellers have responded to my question if HIDs could be used. They both said just don't use high wattage bulbs.. Is that going to effect the brightness? Anyone know of headlights that can handle bulbs over 35 watts?

I run 80/100 watt Hella's in the headlights...and 80 watt Hella's in the fogs...have done so for years with no problems .

PS: Technically they are for 'OFF ROAD ONLY'

Do you run that on your stock headlights?

Yes it is on the stock (very poor) 2005 headlights and fog lights. The only thing I added was an auxiliary heavy duty plug-n-play harness adapter that is suppose to take any additional heat generated through the wiring...probably overkill - not certain if this is necessary. I forgot what model you said your truck is...but if you have room then behind the grille lighting makes a huge difference. The new Hella Rally 4000 LED'S are very costly but give the sun a close run for extreme brightness .

you can rock on stock reflector lights but you will get scatter which can cause glare to oncoming traffic.

I'm having a hard time choosing a brand of hid kit and not sure if I should go 35 or 55w. I've read the 55w looks more white but the 35w is more in price range.

So far the OPT7 HID kit is the one I think I'm going with. Anyone have any recommendations?

I just installed the new headlights and hid's. They worked fine with the truck turned off but when I turn the engine on they flicker and shut off. Did you need to buy a relay or do something different with the wiring?
