Help !! Brake lights staying on solid

Hey folks my brake lights are staying on solid both tails and third on cab ..disconnected the switch under the dash and the lights go out with all other lights including running and parking working normal. I sprayed it with contact cleaner reinstalled and still staying on would I be safe in buying a new switch or could i have other wiring issues further back ?? thanks for any help in advance

If it's not the bulbs, or if you're out of blinker fluid, take it in for repair. If you don't already know how to troubleshoot wiring and read diagrams, you don't want to touch it on your own. It sounds like there is a short somewhere or the brake light switch is stuck...

this is the only common place in the system that all three brake lights receive power/signal from. You took it out, they turned off, you re-installed it, they came back on..

I have it removed and the plunger still moves in and out freely so the contacts must be fried put it back in same result ..Then I read the huge print right on the side of the switch ..DO NOT REINSTALL so i guess im off to get a new one tomorrow if that dosent work Ill check the wiring pretty sure its the switch though all other lighting systems are good... thanks for all your responces

I was reading up on our break switches they have more functions then just putting on the break lights they send a signal to the PCM to lower the idle slightly when you apply the breaks and something they have to be aligned not sure what that meant lol little buggers have like 8 pins in them unlike the old days 2 maybe 3..gettin a new one today ...fingers crossed

Don't take any chances driving it if you don't have to!
