Gabe, You might be better off checking out the "VHT night shades". It's a spray paint I believe some members have used on lights. I think it's hard to find in stores so look online. There should be some threads to help you do it to. If not here check DTW.

2%? You plan on people seeing these lights? lol I recommend the VHT as well. Very clean look. Althouth that is painted, tint can come off and be redone.

this is 3 medium coats of VHT, and 4 coats clear, on the tails... 4 coats VHT on the 3rd brake light. passed inspection, as of today.

Here is the way I made a set of blacked out headlights for my old car. This way you spend time not money on the dark headlights and tails.

headlights diy

Also if you paint the inside of the taillight in stead of the outside it will run into the low areas and leave the prisms inside uncovered. That way when you hit the ligths they will still be very bright but the plastic will look dark. I used model paint for making the windows on model cars look tinted. Its in a spray and it sticks to plastic very well. I have used spray window tint for automobiles before and it actually got hot and ran. this is a pic of my bug compare the side reflactor to the tail light that is how much darker I did the taillights.

Is this the stuff your refering to? I was actually looking to tint my tail lights also. I have a silver truck with black details with the dodge ram tail light covers. I wanted the lens to look black underneath the covers and the third break light to look black also.

Found this on summitracing.com
