Do you have the stock 20 inch wheels now? If I remember those would be 275's right? That would make them 10.8 " wide. 285's would be 11.2".
305 might be the limit on those wheels (12.0").

Your limited by the width of the wheel more so than the room in the fender well.

Exactly. A 12" wide tire is pushing the limits on a factory wheel for safety sake. If you get a wider wheel with a diff offset then I believe a 16" wide tire will fit and look sick as h***

I used 275/55-17 on SS/T rims. IMO, has a good look.

PM me if interested in the tires, the rims are gone.

the stock 17in chrome clad rim is a 17x8.0 so i am limited by the size of tire useless i change rims, i do like SS/T rims greg, but if i change rim/tire size it well throw my speedo off, trust me i found out the hard way, i change just to the other size tire size that come on our rams, with the same rim, but put a 265/70-17 instead the 245/70-15, throw my speedo off about 5-7mph,,,, well u wouldnt thank that would make much of a differences, but when you already are pushing the envelope at 65/70 in a 55,,, well 5-7mph does, at least around here, i guess my next question is how wide and series of tire can i go,if i change what about the off set of the rim, plus i picky about how it looks on my truck too

If you have a tuner, you can plugin your tire size, and adjust your speedometer to read correctly. I know my SuperChips Cortex 3950 tuner will accomplish speedometer correction.

I generally use 55 or 50 series in tires. With 20" I used a 285/50-20 that looked great. Unfortunately they were really heavy. The SS/T rims I used a275/55-17 that also look good and the performance was very nice with the wide tire and light rim combo. I now have 265/60-18 and will be changing them for 255/55-18 shortly. But like most things it's up to what the individual wants and likes.
