Tire pressure & the Spare

Checked the pressure on all 4 tires + the spare before we leave for Virginia and all 4 were between 45-50 psi! The MAX on these Cooper Discoverer H/T's is 50! So I dropped the rear to 35 and the front to 40. Is that ok? Also, my spare looks to be the factory Goodyear Wrangler, and only had 15psi in it! I'm gonna pump it up to 35 but do you guys think it's ok being a 6 year old spare? I couldn't see any cracks or anything in the sidewall...

Lol and it actually matches the tire size on the truck, unlike my old one! I left alittle more in the fronts cuz I'm paranoid that they need more air with the weight of the hemi and my fat butt on them.

Greg, are you sure its even in these United States?

Seriously though, the door jamb sticker says they should be at 35 psi, but I swear it looks like the fronts need more air with 35 in them....I don't know the correct term, they just LOOK low to me.

The door jam data is for stock tires. I run mine soft with 30 in front and 28 in the rear. Ride comfort and traction being the main concern.

Do you mean the factory Goodyears for the jamb pressures? The coopers are factory size 275/60's...

I did notice it didn't throw me around as much over bumps after dropping the pressures.

Yes, I don't think I have ever run stock tires on Red. But that is what the factory recommends mostly aimed at fuel economy rather than comfort.

The door placard shows 35 all around. I raised mine to 37 when we went to St. Augustine. I check my spare 'bout twice a year.

Question

The ride may be more comfortable but won't you have additional heat build-up (summer temps), reduced load capacity, maybe more tire wear and somewhat reduced fuel mileage on a lower inflation?

My 2 Cents,
