The next generation of tires.

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon. A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...????
D. no more flats..
E. no more Police spike strips(only if your a criminal)

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

this is a crazy design but the only problem i see is that there is not alot of tread on the tires so everyone well be going throw them quickly.

I actually worked at a place about a year ago that made these for Audi. The tread and rim came and we made the inner part of the wheel. So its 3 seperate pieces. We had to cleen the 2 pieces with dry ice before hand, and if you didnt clean it well enough it would adhere to each other. It took 2 1/2 hours to make 1 tire.

Let's see the winter version. How will it do in freezing temps like I have here in New England. Cool concept though

Military has been working with these for about ten years. Testing is still on going. Tread wear has been a big issue as trying to figure out the strength vs weight of the internals. They have also had troubles with trying to make them afordable to the public. Maybe they are getting closer.

I've heard that the civilian versions will come in different colors for those so inclined.

Maybe on a car but it would take many years for me to be convinced that they look ok on a truck.

The tweel is a neat setup for cars, the video showing it in action it seems to work really well. I wonder how well it would work in an offroad version.
