Shocks for torsion bar lift

I think that this Bilstein 5100 compresses too far and doesn't extend quite enough for the a 2" torsion bar adjustment. However, this Bilstein 5150 (P/N BF5-A194-H1) only compresses to 12.30" but extends to 18.78" which might be great for re-keyed torsion bars. They are 0.6" shorter than the Rancho RS5000's Big Budda tried at first (RS5283). I'm going to check with one of the local off-road shops this weekend and see what they say.

Replaced my stock shocks (front)with RANCHO direct replacments last week and could`nt be happier with the results. No more sharp thumps when i hit potholes or speed bumps,in fact i go out of my way now to find some(he he). This is what this truck was made for.

Here is a set of new torsion bar keys like I just bought, but for half the price. I checked out the Bilstein 5150's at Central 4Wheel Drive, but they have an eyelet at the top instead of a stud mount. There is a stud mount conversion kit available, but it adds 1" to the length of the shock and that would make the Bilsteins too long. Back to the drawing board!

I maybe a little late to the party, but here goes:
I just found a Dodge Dealer that sells the Truxxx Torsion Bar Keys for $185, instead of the Truxxx Web Site price of $315, they allow for a 2-3" lift.

If you have 3rd generation Ram 2002-2005 you need the stock shock size for the 1994-2001 4x4 Ram 1500 Non-Offroad. For Bilstien it is part # B46-2129. That size shock allows for the additional travel length - so if you want to stick with OEM parts that is the year/size you will need.

My Truxxx keys will be here Monday/Tuesday. My Bilsteins will be here on Wednesday. BTW if anyone needs a set of stock size Bilsteins for the front of a 2002-2004 4x4 1500 let me know - I'm replacing my front Bilstiens with the longer travel one. I just put the other ones on a couple weeks ago -so they are pretty much new - let me know.

Gearman, would you be able to measure the compressed and extended lengths of those Bilsteins when you get them? I need to compare it to the Bilstein 5100 series shock P/N BE5-6140-HO, Travel: 6.65", Compressed length: 11.77", Extended length: 18.42", which is the only one in the series that comes with the stud/stem top mount.
