Mpg?

I just bought a 2009 Ram 1500 Quad cap SLT which is equipped with 20 inch wheels and was wondering what kind of mileage should I expect. I live in Northern California which means the gas here is crap. Thanks for any thoughts.

Welcome to the forum! I have heard people saying anywhere from 15-21mpg on the highway. But I would say the average would be around 18mpg highway. City probably 12-14mpg depending how you drive.

There are also some mods you can get that will help a little with mileage. I am assuming you have the Hemi so don't expect a lot when it come to gas mileage. Exhaust, intake and tuner would be your best bet to gain maybe 1-2 mpg.

It'll take a while to break even with the exhaust, intake and tuner expense. Best bet is to keep 'er tuned up and drive with a light foot. Me, I'm pretty much a failure at the latter.

Pretty spot on from my experience so far. If I baby mine on the highway, I can see 20-21.5 but that's making a constant effort to drive solely for fuel economy. That's also at around 6,000 feet above sea level, in Colorado on changing grades.

It's been quite a few years, I still get up to Redding once in awhile. Funny we would go to Shasta and buy gas in Red Bluff because Redding wasn't always open.
As for gas mileage, I filled up yesterday and got 15mpg and that was mixed with a tendency toward leaning on it a little in town. I usually get 18 driving proper which always surprises me. I'm sure I'll screw that up before long.
