Help with Offset and Backspace

OK guys. I have been loking at buying some new wheels for the Hemi. Thinking about going from the stock 20's to 18's with a bigger A/T tire. My question is can anyone tell me where to find the offset and backspace info on the stock wheels. The new wheels that I am looking at come in either a 18mm offset or a -12 offset. I am looking for a wheel that will stick out past the fnder just a little maybe an inch or so. Can anyone help. Thanks in advance.

How wide are the wheels you're looking at getting?

The -12 offset will give you the wider stance you seem to be looking for, the 18mm offset will tuck the tires in towards the truck more.

Usually, lifted or offroad type trucks go with a negative offset to give them the extra room in the wheel wells for larger tires, while lowered or street trucks tend to like the positive offsets to tuck the tires a bit more inside the wells.

You have it backwards. Having a neg offset will give you more of a lip on the face of the wheel, kick the tire out of the fenders.

The hub is back towards the hub -12mm so it the hub has gone behind the orginal spot and now you have a deeper dish wheel.

Actually, you both just said the same thing...lol

Here is a good site to use if you want to see how the offset and wheel size will affect the stance...

HAHA I guess the wording didn't make sense to me at first. Trying to multi-task does not work for me.

re gardless of the offset, you need to test fit, because some tires and wheel combos don't work. you could rub the fender well on some while another wheel could cause the tire to hit the bumper on a turn.

also remember the more you put the tire out from the axle the more stress and weight on the bearing....... stick with the factory offset or you will be replacing bearings and maybe even spindles on the front. Just my 2 cents worth
