Recently my steering started pulling to the right. I assumed it needed an alignment. I got it in this am. I have Goodyear Wranglers with 42K on 'em.
The shop said the alignment was dead on but that I had a broken belt in the R.F tire.
Off I go to the local Goodyear place. I have a brand new full size spare hanging underneath.
Well, needless to say, after three years the lock & shaft were rusted so badly that they had to cut the lock off with a sawzall.
Now I will need to replace that or use a chain.
at least if someone steals the spare now, they will be getting an old spare with a broken belt.
I figure about another 10K and I'll get the Ogre some new shoes.
The lock has a grease fitting on it so ya might just want to check it out if you haven't looked at it lately. Maybe even spray some WD40 on the shaft.
It's a good thing that I wasn't out on the road with a flat to change to make this discovery.
