I want to replace my BFG AT's they only lasted about 30,000(not happy), didnt light them up on the street, and the only off road they saw was the occasional muddy field. Looking at something affordable/durable 285/70/17 looked at Nitto's & Toyo AT.....open to suggestions. Have always gotten good info from this site so thanks in advance.

For sake of question how old/long ago did you get the BFG's? I know a few people who are running 305/55R20 Nitto Terra Grapplers and absolutely love them. Friend of mine replaced his a couple months ago after having them for 6 years and 55k miles, even kept one as additional spare since tread was still decent and no visible dry rot. But for stock set ups I think that tire is a little wide and has a tendency to rub.

I put them on maybe 3+ years ago. I live only about 4 miles from work so I dont put a ton of mileage on the truck. The place I purchased them was a little sketchy so I think I may have had an old set or something.
There doesnt seem to be a dominant tire out there everything I read is 50/50 good/bad...nitto, toyo, bfg...The first hand expierence your friend had is definately a plus. Thanks for the info.

No problem, I was curious about the age of the BFG's because my brother has a set on his Ford with some serious miles on them (bought in 04 and they still look good). He himself has been looking to replace them soon and his tire guy actually told him to stay away from BFG now. Evidently they have changed something in there manufacturing process a couple years back and the tires are not near what they used to be.
