20" truck with 17' spare

Hey Guys, just picked up a 2013 Sport Quad Cab with 20" wheels.

I noticed the factory provides a 17" spare. What the hell?

So what kind of damage can I do to the truck if I run a 17" spare.

Also, I've heard that the stock jack will not lift a 20" equipped truck high enough to get the wheels off. Has anyone tried this yet?

Thanks for the help.

Apparently you are not intended to have a flat. I would first check to see if your truck came from the factory with 20". If so then I'd have the dealer replace the spare with a proper wheel. Typically the gears are also different betwen the two wheel sizes.

As long as the overall diameter is within reason, there's no problem. The diameter of the wheel is irrelevant, it's the tire diameter. I'll bet you'll find them the same.

Bingo - I do believe you are correct!

Check the 'OVERALL' tire diameter. My truck came with 275/60R/20's and I replaced them with SRT 22's at 305/45R/22's - there are 17 inch tire choices as well that are very close to the same 'overall' diameter - you just get more sidewall.

Sidewall is a good thing. Me likee the ride. More forgiving of curbs, too.

They should be the same, my winter 17"s are the same height as my summer 20"s

Mine won't lift the truck up high enough to get the tire off
