I have an 05 1500 QC SB. I'm looking into dropping it sometime soon. I've been looking at the 2/4 and the 4/6 kits. Just looking for suggestions on which kits are better and the big differences between the two. I want it low and I know I'll lose ride quality a little I just don't want it to be horrible. Not looking to make this real expensive but I know you have to pay for good quality too. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Ther eis a number of kits out there from front springs and rear flip to front spindles and rear knotch kits. I have a 08 and went with 2" drop spindles and 4" rear flip. It wasn't to hard.

What manufacturer did you go with? I'm thinking the 2/4 will give me the best compromise between a lowered stance and descent ride. But there are several good manufacturers that make these and there seem to be a lot of good and bad points.

McGaughy's has a quality kit. They have 2/4 and 4/6 kits. With there 2/4 kit, there are two options: spring front/flip rear OR spindle front/flip rear. There 4/6 kit has spring/spindle front and flip kit rear w/shock extenders(to run your stock shocks)with a c-notch.

If you want a ride compromise, and, you are going to run 22's or bigger, stay with a 2/4. If you truly don't care about ride as much,a 4/6 with a 40 or 35 series tire would look pretty sweet. You could also modify your 4/6 to a 5/7 by going with 3" front springs and removing one leaf from your spring pack and run some helper bags.....

Most 2/4 kits are in the $300+up range with the 4/6 in the $550-$600+ range. Check around, some more expensive kits include shocks, shorter bumpstops and all the hardware. Other kits, just springs and flip-kit hardware.....average drop shocks start at around $35-$40 per shock...trust me,you will need shorter shocks (even with a 2/4)...

My Western Chassis 2/4 kit was around $300-$325 8 years ago....it is still on my truck...it came with shorter front bumpstops but,not shorter rear bumpstops....you will need shorter rear bumpstops. I ended up taking mine out completely after about two days, there was roughly about 1/4" to 1/2" gap between the factory stops and the frame with the flip kit....

Got my McG' 4/6 from S1S in 07 and still one of my fav' mods. Really gave the truck a different visual appearance.
My kit included
2" front coils and spindles
Rear flip kit
C Notch
Belltech drop shocks on all corners
Remove stock bump stops and replaced with energy suspension low profile stops.
Tack welded the perches to be safe.

Stock Height - Look at the wheel well space.

4/6

if you go with the McGuaghy's deluxe kit...the initial install is a 2/4... if you use your stock shackle and cut coil (or change to drop coil), it becomes a 4/6 or more... to get the stance I wanted I trimmed coil to make it a 5/7 drop, still ran 17's so my ride is hardly compromised at all...

2/4 with stock 20's

4/6 with stock 20's

4/6 with 17's

towing with my drop...
