Thumbs down Valve noise

This is my first post, so bear with me please, I have a 2006 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi, I just got a guy to do the comp cam 268 swap, I replace valve springs, pushrods and got the custom tune, but after it was started up it has a valve ticking noise, it has good oil pressure and all, so what I'm trying to figure out is what would cause the tap, or is there any shops in Georgia that will help me out with it! Thanks in advance

This might sound stupid. But when I did my springs and push rods the pushrods had a plastic coating on them that covered the holes on the ends . Did they remove the pastic from all the rods. If not you will have a noisy non oiled lifter .

Yes they were cleaned with brake parts cleaner, dried, then soaked in oil for 24 hours, I know overkill but just to be positive!

If you replaced the rods with 6.1 hemi rods then they are going to be noisy. The 6.1 rods with work but are a tad to short on the exhaust pushrod. Give me a little bit and I will tell you the exact length you need.

The 6.1 push rods if I remember right were longer then the 5.7 push rods and have been used by some to actually fix the valve tick noise. Mine has never ticked and I've used both 5.7 push rods on a stock cam and the 6.1 push rods on a crzy Spartan. Make sure it isn't an exhaust leak or as stated something out of place with the valve train. Did you have any noise before the cam swap? Good luck..

Yes the 6.1 are longer, Yes some have used to fix the valve tick with a factory cam. My truck ticked before the cam swap and just as much after, actually a little louder since I have headers. I doubt it would be a exhaust leak because he did not mention a header swap. Night06runner a tick with the 6.1 pushrods/ comp 268 combination is more common than people think. It is just like people with stock 5.7. Some people have the hemi tick and some do not.

If you are near the Atlanta area you can come hear my engine and you can compare. If a pushrod or something is out of place you will know pretty soon
