Suggestions on 'refreshing' my '04 1500

I bought my black Hemi Sport Quad Cab new in June '04. I drove it for work, and by 2009 had 142k miles on it. Since then, it isn't driven that regularly. I know have 170k on it. For a while I was planning to get rid of it for something newer, but decided just to clean it up.

So with that, I'm looking for thoughts & tips on doing this. I am not looking for a highly modified ride. Mostly mechanical advice to make it solid and dependable. Here are my current plans:
- Body work (rust over rear wheels & door dings)+ fresh paint
- shocks (type?)
- Plugs
- CAI (Volant?)
- plugs
- Pcv
- 02 sensors
- pwr steering pump
- change oil front/rear end
- hydraulic arms for hood
- HID lights & LED rear/interior lights
- new wheels & tires
- DVD head unit with backup camera
- redo tint (is going purple!)
- sliding rear window

You've got a good list so far. And the truck looks like a pretty solid platform to start with from that picture. I am partial to the black on black look.

to HTC. keep us updated on the progress.

Thanks. Also think it might be a good time to purge the brake lines and put new fluid in. Not really having any issues, but she does turn 10 this year! More preventative I guess.

Another question/concern, I think I will start a new post on, but I smell coolant after it warms up. Over time I lose coolant from reservoir, but don't see any leaks. I just now changed my oil, no signs of mixing, and it doesn't appear to be coming through the exhaust. Last time I refilled the reservoir I had the engine running, & rpm's picked up very slightly. Now bogging down then correction, just simply came up 100-200 rpm and maintained. Any thoughts???

Mine had been off the road for 3 years when I did a complete rebuild of the engine and tranny. Among other cosmetic under hood, frame rails and calibers etc.. I replaced every bit of fluid in the truck. even the PS fluid. It was about $200 in fluids. But, I know I'm starting form scratch now. Don't need to worry about moisture in any of my lines. Including the brakes. That took forever to get it to run clear. For me it was well worth it.

Good list. You mentioned Plugs Twice. You'll be after 16 of them buggers.

First missing item I would add is a BlackMagic E-fan.

Look closely at the timing cover to block area for any signs of dried coolant my truck was loosing 2" a week in overflow and I finally noticed one day a tiny drip was alot of work but needed to be fixed

Yeah, I realized I did plugs twice but couldn't edit.

I found where the leak is unfortunately! Block has water on it by the #6 & #8 cylinders! I guess head gasket, but surprised it isn't getting into the oil!
