Id this part

Found this laying behind the drivers side headlight. What is it and where does it attach ?

Ambient air temp sensor and it mounts behind the headlight frame bolt right next to you in the picture. Pinch between frame and headlight frame

You have aftermarket headlights, otherwise there would be an open flat under that bolt so that would sit there. Whoever replaced the lights (I assume before you had it) either didn't pay attention to it, didn't wanna bother remounting it correctly or just plain didn't care. Should look like this:

Well I put the headlights in but that part was never bolted up. Guessing someone changed a bulb or something and left it off.

Happens...I took a dremel and flattened out the one spot like a factory light has so I could mount the sensor where it was supposed to go.

Very little is where it originally was on my truck.. being a temperature sensor it only needs to be exposed to ambient air.
