Fan stopped working, truck overheated.

Well fan fuse had melted. I put my gauges back in went and drove my truck. Gave it hell the whole time. Well I pulled into the driveway and my temp was almost at the red!!!!!! I did not even notice until my check gauge light came on. I hope I did not do any major damage . I I turned te engine off spliced the fan wires together and the started the truck back up. That was it could cool without the hot fluid just sitting in the engine. It started to cool back off but xt he damage is probably already done

It's likely ok. Let it cool down then start it back up and idle it for a little while. I have seen way worse and no issues. You should be fine.

Mine did the same. I soaked my radiator with the water hose to cool her back down. Been about a year. No issues at all.

I have an alert set on my AeroForce gauge to come on at 203 degree's. I seldom see it but I like having it as a backup.

My 2006 has an audible alert when the check gauges light comes on. It dings at me. I take it yours doesn't work or it's a newer feature?? I think it's the same chime used for headlights/seatbelt etc....If it's disabled to not be annoying it won't tell you there's a problem either. Might be worth looking into.

That's what I'm saying, it is pretty loud, the chime might be disabled or not working to not notice the check gauges light coming on.

Mine works. That is when I noticed it. When the 'check gauge light' came on the standard 'ding' alert came with it.

Started it up last night when I got home after work and all seemed fine. Idled nice, and rev up nice too with no issues. Only time will tell now but I feel good after starting it up yesterday.

Here are pictures of the damaged wires and the new fuse holder I got.
