Engine swap question

Hey guys, so here's a question: As the miles are adding up on my Bee, I've been thinking for a while now about an engine swap. Right now it's just in the "thinking" phase, but my question is this: How difficult would it be to swap out the current 5.7 that's in my 2005 with say, a 2017 crate motor? Would the mounts and everything line up? Woud it be more difficult with a 6.1/6.4 than it would be with a 5.7? Would I have to also add a beefier transmission/transfer case? These are some of the things I was thinking about. If anyone has anything else to add that I didn't think about, please let me know! Thanks guys!

The Issue with the 2017 engine it will have the VVT system, it can be locked out mechanically, and the MDs can be tuned out. Trans will bolt up , no issue there other than having the 545 and it's issues. The 2017/crate engine will bolt in to your 05 no issue there.

I would say you need to establish the goal(s) you have for your truck. Are you going to keep the truck for the long term? Is it a street truck, track or drag racer? Do you have deep enough pockets to have professionals do the mods or are you going to do everything yourself. The mechanics of these trucks is the easy part. Having the truck running without various dtc's popping up is the hard part. Unless MDS/VVT are something you want to have, simply build a motor without them. This will allow you to use your 05 pcm with custom tuning to optimize your modifications. As for your 545 trans, it won't hold anything much ove stock output. There's plenty of folks on the forum who can help you.

Keep forgetting that 32 VS 58 tooth deal, the tone wheel is an easy thing to deal with.

Just a note on tone wheels. Aftermarket tone wheels can be mounted the the harmonic balancer and ati balncers can be ordered with the tone ring part of the balancer.
