Brake Dashlight Activates

I have a 2006 Ram 2500SLT 4x4 with 138,000 miles, 5.7 hemi. Just recently I have the dash brake light coming on randomly. It comes on going down the road, sometimes immediately after going or sometimes days later. It always resets after turning engine off. Lately it will come on even when I first start up and let it idle for about 3 to 5 minutes before moving. Then other days it may be hours before activating. There is no pattern to it. Never activates when using the brakes. It is driving me crazy.
Already changed brake switch, checked parking brake lever making sure it is all the way up, checked brake fluid, checked wiring for abrasions, etc. Just changed brake pads and rotors about 4 months ago and bled brake lines/changed brake fluid. The light started about a month ago. No ABS light activation but the ABS light works. Couple of weeks ago my ETC activated while pulling my RV and went into limp mode. Pulled over immediately and shut down. Started back up immediately and went on my way with no further problems. I am pulling what little hair I have left out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You've checked the normal items. I would check grounds and battery starting with charging it overnight.

Nicole's Town and County is having the same dash Brake light coming on periodically and then goes out about minute later. It is getting close to needing brake pads but still stops great. Check fluids, battery, and brake lights, so far all look good.

If your brake fluid were to go down too far, this would probably happen; but I think I would start by checking or replacing the brake fluid sensor. Quite possibly bad wiring, or dirty/bad sensor.

If you look at the wiring diagram in the Factory Service Manual, specifically 8W-34-2, the Brake Fluid Level Sensor is hardwired to the TIPM on the DG/OR Wire and the other wire which is BK/OR is straight to the G104 Ground in front of the battery on the inner fender support. It is attached with a 10mm bolt. This is also the ground for the headlamps and several other things too. The data provided by the Brake Fluid Level Sensor is transmitted by the Can-C bus to the ABS Module.

Section 8W-91-43 shows the location of the G104 ground.

Found that after the light resets, if I wiggle the connector to the brake fluid level sensor the light activates on the dash. Ordered a new reservoir to see if that will fix it.
Redtruck-VA and SUPER BEE like this.

The sensor is either bad or just gummed you (but can’t be cleaned)
