2500 HEMI, 2003 work truck..question.

Bought a 2003 HEMI 2500 "Heavy Duty" single cab work truck today. My question is, are these low geared? I ask because it seems like a lot of RPMS to me, to get it moving. I'm used to to half ton Chevy's. I don't really know how a 3/4 ton Dodge is supposed to "act". It has 181,000 miles on it. Hiway miles, pulling a 25 ft. trailer with garage doors on it from Dallas to Abilene about three times a week. I will say, when I hit the gas quickly, it will squeal the tires. But an average red light/green light take off, it seems to rev a little high.

Since its an 03 there should be a sticker in the glove box stating the gear ratio. If you get a chance let's see a picture of your new truck

Don't hold me to this but wasn't 4:10 an option for the 2500? What are your rpm's at 65 mph?

Rpms...

I was watching that, actually, yesterday when I drove it home. In OD, I was running 70-75 at about 2200-2350? I noticed today it was only staying on 2nd for a MOMENT, then when it hit 4th, the RPM gauge would only move down 100 points or so.Then the "decent" into OD, I call it, where the engine RPM winds down and it just "grabs" ahold at about 45 mph. IDK, if all this is "normal", this is weird. This aint Chevy.

Dang right this isn't Chevy! My Chevy was already dog food cans when it was eleven years old. Anyway, sounds like it might be the 3.73 rear end. What size tires?
