03 dodge 2500 hd 4x4

I just wanted say thanks in advance for any help.
My 03 has a p0601 code which is a faulty pcm. i have several question. 1st i bought it a month ago and have put 4000 miles on it. if the pcm is bad how am i still driving. 2nd i have 285 tires and need to recalibrate my speed. with the bad pcm will i be able to this.

That code definitely says your PCM is shot. I believe the truck has a default mode that will allow it to stay running but not to optimum specifications. I think its called limp mode.

Best thing to do is find one in a salvage yard that has matching serial numbers and then have it flashed for your truck. Sorry for the bad news.

My worst fears. Would doing the tmr mod help or hurt any at this point?

If you find another 03 PCM with the same PN you can simply plug and play, reflashing VIN is not necessary. I would also install an external ground wire from the PCM to chassis /battery ground and reboot the PCM and see if it clears the DTC. Good luck...

I have an automatic and have scoured all the salvage yards here. nada. i think the ground wire would probably solve future pcm failures. what is the more powerful way to clear the pcm. the fuse pull method or the touch both battery cables together method.

They are probably the same, but I prefer disconnecting the battery.
Edit: According to these folks the PCM's are the same from the 1500, 2500 and 3500. So you should be able to use the more common 1500 PCM.

can anyone repost the pcm reset procedure for an 03 dodge. theres like five different methods. they cant all work or all be good for the truck
