Hemi 8 spd towing

Hey folks...I've got a 2014 ram 4x4 hemi with the 8 spd trans and 3.92 gears. it also has the factory 4 corner air ride system.

Has anyone with same set up towed with it yet?
They say it can tow 10,500lbs...Just interested in any feed back esp as to power, handling, swap and braking.

Boating season is coming and I am eager to see what she can and can't do here on our mountain hwys with my 6700lb (dry) boat and trailer combo.

i have an 11', with the 5 speed...i towed a 9000lb travel trailer no issues at all i would imagine that you will not have a problem, just take your time and be smart about it.might help to air up the tires a little as well.

I also have a 2012 bighorn with timbren suspension under the back end and have no issues with hauling my fifth wheel travel trailer weighing in at over 9000 lbs dry weight. It is a 5 speed with 5.7 under hood with no mods.

Does it have factory brake controller? I know a lot of new trucks do, best towing mod you can get.

Brake controllers are super nice to have while towing and a must if you get close to(or over) a vehicle's towing rating. The Hemi is more than capable, I've had 11 silage bales on a 20' flatbed behind my 2006 2500 a few times. That was over 30,000 lbs rolling down the highway If I was going to do that every day I'd get a diesel because the fuel mileage gets down around 8 when I do that but the Hemi is plenty strong enough. I haven't found anything I couldn't move, pending traction of course.

Hey thnx for the responses.
yup its got factory trailer brake controller but prob not gonna do much good tho with the boat trailer as its got surge brakes on tandem axles. I hear lotsa good stuff about this 1500 and its towing ability. looking forward to putting it to work

Longhorn. Like you, I just purchased a 2014 1500 outdoorsman crew cab with a hemi, 8 speed auto and 3.92 gearing. I'm anxious to see how it will do pulling my 6800 lb. camp trailer. I traded in my 2010 SLT quad cab with the 4.7 flex fuel engine and five speed auto trans. The 4.7 did o.k. towing the camper, but it seemed to be working it pretty hard. Have to see how the hemi does.

With the deep 1st and 2nd trans gear and the 3.92. It should pull just fine.
