So, i posted several weeks ago that I purchased a 2017 RAM 2500 slt with the Hemi 5.7 vvt, 3.73 gears with a 6 speed transmission. I cannot stress how happy i am with this truck... Drove it from Atlanta to the Hudson Valley in NY through Tennessee, Virginia, and Pennsylvania via.the I-81 with about 9000 pounds total tow and a payload of a wife, 2 kids and a dog. On the way we made two camping stops; one in natural bridge of Virginia and the other in Hershey Pennsylvania. This truck was an absolute beast. Went up-and-down the hills without a problem. Gas mileage was between 9.5 to 10 mpg... Average RPM going up some of the steepest hills was between 3000-3500, However averaged about 2500 rpms overall. You can really feel the vvt kick in for that extra torque... love my Hemi....

Sounds like you have a good truck that is really working for you. For towing a camper, I wouldn't go with anything less than a 2500 model.
