I found a gouged tooth after cracking the diff this morning. Not too much to worry about according to the dealer, I sent them pics and he was going to put that it my file. What do you think?

I took mine in for a rear end whine on Monday, they had to replace the ring and pinion, and all bearings. They just did the pinion seal in Nov 04.

OH...has your trucks rear end been opened up before? I'll almost bet there was something in the rear end at one time that caused the damage.. It may have been drained out or ground into small pieces at an earlier time. If there isn't anything loose and nothing in there now it was prolly taken care of previously... Just my $0.02 worth.

I'm going to guess(my guess' haven't hit the mark lately, so take it for what it's worth) that it was dropped or something was dropped on it from the factory. Doesn't look like it will affect anything where it's at, but at least they have it on file in case it does.

BTW, the truck has been completely switched over to Royal Purple as far as engine oil and differential oils are concerned. 75W140 in the rear pumpkin, 75W90 in the front, 5W30 in the Hemi. Taking it on a road trip on Saturday down to Gettysburg PA, towing a car hauler with a 1947 Willys on it. Hoping for some good mileage.

The RP synthetic gear oil does not require the friction additive, it has it already in there. My rear diff took about 2.6 quarts, the front took around 2ish.
