3rd Gen vs 4th Gen towing

Hello everyone,!

Debating whether to pick up a crispy new 1500. 8 speed, 3.92, etc... Question for any of you who have the experience is how different are the new ones from the older generation when it comes to towing. Currently have an 08 with the 5.7 and 3.55 axle. Not really happy with how it tows, especially on the inclines. Towing a 26ft TT, roughly 5400 loaded.

Thanks!

Are you set on getting a different truck or just toying with the idea? Swapping axle gears is much cheaper. If you jump to 4.10 gears it'll be like buying a new truck without the payment

Ya.. our current rig is a quad and we want to get into a crew. More space for the kid and dogs that we didn't have when I picked it up in 08. But swapping gears is a good idea.

I know what you mean. I'd still have my old regular cab '06 if I didn't need room for 2 carseats. Good trade though truck for 2 daughters

I'll second that as well. Do the gears and put some $$ aside for the Crew Cab down the road.
