If your truck came with a 4pin trailer plug you can get a 4pin to 7pin adapter outlet at walmart. Plug your 4 pin in. Then the 7pin gets grounded out to frame. One of the wires is for a brake controller and the other wire is for brake power if your trailer electric brakes. My 05 had a knockout in the bumper already for the adapter to fit
There should be a capped off main plug in the rear of the truck taped to the frame drivers side. This should be a simple plug and play of a factory 7 pin wiring setup back there from the dealer. Also the brake controller wires will be taped to the harness in left kickpanel area under the dash. If you go to the dealer and ask for the 7 pin plug and play harness it will come with directions on how to connect it if you get it and all fuses or relays needed
