Decided I need to upgrade my diesel. As much as I like my 89' smoker, not counting having a ton of money in it. It's not doing what I need it to do being a regular cab. So I'm putting the old girl up for sale and take the loss. It would be cheaper than upgrading the trans to a A518 and it would still be a RC. The wife is unable to drive anymore so I'll throw her Endeavor in for a trade-in and I'll get a 4dr so Lucy (dog) will have the back seat all to herself. Spoiled bitch... "Lucy".... I'm only considering 03-05 unmolested 4dr. Should be fun.... :brows: wish me luck..

Should have a lot of life left in it if the ad is truthful and you can shave the price down...you can do a lot with a 5.9 :thumb:.
Shoot them low. I only paid $500 more for my '11 2500 hemi with 92k miles. I understand the lure of a diesel but they are way overpriced imo. Happy hunting!
The website they are associated with even states the price is over priced by more than $5000. I talked with the guy and told him I'm interested but at a much lower price. I figure $13,500 I'd buy it. Of course if it drives without issues.
I ran a AutoCheck on it and CarFax to see about it's background. It has had two owners and used as a commercial vehicle in South Dakota. That's cold country and I'm concerned if there is any rust problems or not. Maybe someone from up there can tell me if rust is an issue. What pictures I can see of the fender wells and around the tires look clean. It's a four hour drive and I'm not able to drive down to see it until Thursday. It is my top choice at the moment and I'll either drive it home or continue the search.
Put a deposit down on the 07, will pickup Thursday. It's a long haul to pick it up. Somewhat of a pig in a poke but I did view a video walk around and engine startup so I believe it'll be well worth the trip.
It has had two previous owners and it was used as a commercial vehicle no doubt involving lots of travelling. There is good documentation on it. The high mileage is what has made it difficult to sell and pulled the price down. Even with the mileage it is still $5000 under book. Was told it has been serviced and thoroughly checked out and needs nothing. Being retired I figure I'll put 10k a year on it mostly as a daily driver and of course towing Red when needed....
My'11 was a commercial vehicle. They are usually pretty good with service interval and records :thumb: also being commercial it has likely never seen a tuner :thumb: some of those canned diesel tunes are super hard on injectors and turbos.
I also know of commercial vehicles that have been mistreated with no maintenance, generally ignored. This one is a little strange as the level of mileage didn't change with the second owner. Almost has a feeling the truck's second owner was the driver of the truck when it was owned by the first owner. Maybe he bought the truck and continued what he was doing using the truck he already was using? Of course don't really know, just an observation of it's mileage.
Be careful of that then. A manual transmission trick for keeping mileage low is pulling abs fuse. Speedo quits and dash lights up but it won't count miles. It's fairly common, guys just drive by gear and tach......
The deal is done. The truck has a big a$$ straight pipe and CAI. It will need brakes and shocks. But no big deal. They adjusted price and I'm very happy with the deal. The 24v engine rev's much higher than what I'm use to. Pulled in to get fuel and it's an attention getter for sure. Farmtruck has been retired. I thought I would name her but the only thing that comes to mind is Whitetruck, I got to do better than that. One thing I definitely need is some steps, it's tall for me, but the wife will need a box to stand on. And yea I got that shifter extension pulled out before I even got into the truck.
When I got to the dealer, which in my book is technically a used car lot that is as big or bigger than a lot of dealers. They specialize in exotic vehicles and they have a ton of them from hopped up chopped VW sedans (very cool looking) to top European sports cars and a ton of American muscle. It's like going to a car show. One that caught my eye was what I was told 1 of 2 factory built twin turbo SRT10 Vipers. This had Hennessey sticker on it and I believe what that meant that Hennessey (dealership) built two. This one has been sold for $57k and is going to the Isle of Malta. I was told a lot of top end vehicles go to Europe. (Russia), which somehow pisses me off. But anyway this is what caught my eye.
