While the question is rhetorical, it certainly must cost more then I previously imagined.
Early this past summer I noticed what I thought odd, a freightliner van with Dodge Ram headlights. I figured it was just a strange DIY project, but apparently these were actually manufactured (as AlbertaHemi points out, likely when Chrysler was owned by Daimler AG). Still a bit odd, but nothing too crazy. Then I stumble across a 2012 Monaco motor home with the same headlights... (And a ford chassis).
Is headlight engineering really that demanding?
