Got a guy wanted me to look at his truck. Cylinder 5 contribution issue and misfire along with loud tap and loud squeak same hole. Diagnose down to lifter collapsed on 5 so heads come off and then I find this on same cylinder because I don’t just ignore things I check them all. Wrist pin is done for ford thought it was a good idea to use no bushing in the wrist pin hole it steel sleeve to steel rod hole.
I took the Mazda in to my new favorite shop - there was a black Hemi Ram with the cab on the lift. They were replacing the engine at 140K. The owner "took it to the dealer for all the maintenance ...". I forget the cause, but does "flat spots on the cam lobes ..." sound likely/possible?
I know. "Back in the day", the first task in major engine work was "... remove the hood ...". Now, it's "... unbolt all this stuff and raise the cab ..." Heck, just replacing the fuel pump is easier if you remove the bed (or slide it back supported by saw horses).
