Tailgates! I am glad I bought a lock.

The story goes...

Thieves, especially in a tough economy and high unemployment, have been known to steal seemingly odd things that most people wouldn't think had much value. But the thieves know different. Among the vulnerable: copper pipes from building and vacant condos; freshly planted landscaping; plumbing fixtures from vacant condos. Now you can add tailgates from pickup trucks. Huh?

Guy around the corner on the main street had his cheby tailgate and tail lights stolen. Street light helped the thieves see what they were doing.

isn't new to most areas, of the south anyway. They are easily disposable for good money. Most insurance companies will tell you that.
There have been a rash of A/C compressors stolen around the Dallas area in the last year. Churches and businesses have been the hardest hit. They've even gone to steeling the wire out of street lights. A couple have even gotten fired. Serves the worthless SOB's right.

Similarly...on this mornings news. A woman heard someone breaking into her house. Called her husband on the phone. He told her to get the gun. She did and when the POS came into where she was she shot and killed him. Good for her!

We live in a strange world.
A couple of years ago a mad man armed with a machete entered a gun shop in Auckland (Our biggest city) and attempted to hack the owner to death. The owners son stuck a round in a weapon and sent the madman to the promised land and found himself charged with manslaughter. it took 18 months and many thousands of dollars for the system to see the merits of the sons actions and set him free. Here the law needs to be seen to be done.

Here, if you kill someone in defense of your self and or your property, expect to find yourself in court and out of pocket.
