Why the stock intake resonator sucks!

After installing the Airaid MIT tube
I was very curious why it made so much
difference in my Rams performance. I
had seen the inside of the stock
resonator before and thought it looked
fairly good as far as flowing air. Well,
I missed something that I had not seen
before. I took a picture of the problem.
The light is right on the area that hurts
air flow. You are looking at the TB opening
from the air box opening side. At the top
their is a ledge that practically goes half
way around the upper circumference of the
opening that leads to the TB. What really
compounds this problem is this ledge angles
away from the TB opening which creates a
rebounding effect on the upper area of the
fast moving column of air. This rebounding
is what probably allows the baffle openings
to kill sound waves. At any rate. Get rid
of the resonator!!! They DO hurt performance
by killing air stream velocity. Good air
stream velocity gives you a densor cylinder
air/fuel mixture fill.

Thanks MrHemi!! I wasn't sure
the picture would be focused.
It was a chore holding the pen
flashlight in one hand and taking
the shot with the other.

If that picture doesn't convince folks that a CAI is the way to go for better mpg and performance, I don't know what else will.
