It's roughly 2'x3', cast steel, about 70lbs ans convex on the front, concave on the rear. My uncle found it on one of his farm properties north of Weyburn Saskatchewan.

Ideas that have been thrown around are manhole cover (apparently some places do have oval ones, but this is convex) or maybe the cap of the pressure tank on a steam engine (no holes for rivets and no apparent weld bead).

Anyone have any ideas? I cleaned up the logo hoping google goggles would pull through, butno luck.

It is an ancient Druid cauldron called the cauldron of rebirth which was used in ceremonies to guide fallen heroes to the other world. The cauldron normally was placed higher than a mans head and a fire was burned in the concave side of it. Four specific woods were used, oak for strength, pine for straighteness of charactor, birch for medicinal purposes and grape for celebration. The fire was kept burning for seven days and nights in the belief that the demons of darkness could be held at bay by the power and light of fire.

The smoke from the fire assisted the fallen hero to travel to the other world with all his glory to Dagna, the God who could bring the dead back to life. It was also believed that those who inhaled the smoke would also be empowered with the charactor of the fallen hero.

Ater seven days the hero was cast adrift in a boat the was set on fire to make his journey to his destiny.
