I know a lot of folks are going to be traveling over the Christmas holidays. So I thought I'd start this thread for us to post some driving route information that may not be available online yet. For example, there is a new route that bypasses Nashville but isn't on the Google Maps or Bing Maps sites yet. I used the new TN Route 840 a couple of days ago.

I had posted this info on this thread and thought it important enough have its own thread.

Here's some news that will help folks who are traveling on I-40, I-65, and I-24 in Tennessee. Neither Google Maps nor Bing Maps have been updated to show this. Tennessee route 840 was opened November 2. It bypasses Nashville on the south side and makes for a less stressful drive. The west end of 840 starts at I-40 near Dickson, TN and wraps around the south side of Nashville intersecting I-65 and I-24 before ending at I-40 near Lebanon, TN east of Nashville. The entire route 840 is a 4 lane divided parkway and it is a nice drive compared to the terrible traffic in Nashville. I used 840 when traveling to and from Madison, AL for Thanksgiving. Keep this new route in mind when traveling in Tennessee.
