Hi all, I got a 2003 Ram Hemi with 3.55 gears Quad cab and 4x4. I just bought a 30ft camper that wieghs 4567lbs dry. probably will be between 5200 and 5500lbs loaded. When I take O/D off the torque converter locks in 3rd instead of 5th. I only plan on going 60mph on the highway and this brings my rpms to 2500 rpms. I plan on going alot of places with this setup. Now my question is.......is this ok??? Will I be fine running at 2500 rpms for 16hrs straight???? I think I will be. I just wanna get some other opinions. Im thinking that 2500 rpms is accually right in the Hemi's powerband. The Hemi does like to rev!!! THANKS!!!

Under those conditions, you're probably right. It'll need torque to keep all that weight moving. You'll especially like the mileage! Particularly as gas approaches $6

How much hill climbing you planning on doing in that condition? I know western PA ain't the flattest place on earth and would take some fancy footwork to maintain RPM's through that kind of driving.

I towed an 8000# boat, and under most conditions used O/D. You just have to be careful. Do you have a trans temp gauge? That might not be a bad investment.

Not necessarilly a cheap mod for a 4x4 but a gear change to 4:56 would IMO work great.

Well, at least half the trip will be downhill.
