Where I live, tailgating seems to be a norm around here. Even if there is an open lane next to you and the tailgater can go around. It's not like I am driving below or at the speed limit. I am mostly above by 5 or 7 mph and invariably I'll find someone that is latched on my back bumper. What do you do when you have someone tailgating you?

BTW in the last 30 years of driving the streets & hyways of AZ, I have been rear-ended 5 times!

It doesn't happen as often in MA because 99.9999999999% of the time, the person who hits you in the rear end is at fault. But if I have someone who is that ignorant I usually give them a little time to wake up and if they continue then I start slowing down a few mph at a time and eventually (90% of the time) they back off a bit.

If that doesn't work, just shoot them once in the head.

that doesn't surprise me Jim. i try to slow down and make them go around, or tap the brake so the lights come on several different times in like a 1/4 mile, that usually get them pissed and they tell me i'am number 1 when they go by,BUT for some reason the Mexican people will just keep following you and never change lanes no matter what you do.

If someone comes up behind me and wants to get by, I just move over. Doesn't happen often, since I'm usually doing about 80. In the rare event I'm driving slower, I'm in the right lane. The ones that want to run 80+ won't find me in the way.

Robert Loggia has a direct way to deal with tailgaters.

Warning, adult language!

Never anything less than a double tap.

I usually don't have anyone tailgating because I cruise at about 70. If I do, I'll usually slow down to about 50 and make them go around me.

When someone tailgates me I blast my train horn that will confuse or scare them enough to where they drop at least for a little while and it's by no means a. Small eBay horn this thing cranks out 167db+
