What scan tool is eveyone using and what is the good and bad about it.

I am wanting to get one and I need one due to CEL. Should I go very basic and get one that just gives me the P# or maybe something a little better?

I am thinking about getting the Actron CP9125 or the Actron CP9580.

I'm using a Scan Gauge II, which allows real-time monitoring of whatever is reported through the OBD II port (RPM, intake air temp, coolant temp, throttle position, etc., etc., etc.). Also lets me read and clear codes.

I actually have the Actron CP9125. I got it at Advance Auto Parts for like $50. It is about as basic as it gets but it does the job. It reads and clears codes just fine. It has a few other functions but I just wanted something to read and clear codes.

If I can't do what I neeed to with this one the vehicle needs to be at the dealer or a mechanic.

I bought an Actron CP9575 after my Superchips screwed up the computer in the wife's 07 Mitsu. It had read her 03 Mitsu and several other cars ok but didn't like her 07.
