Our 2010 net income tax was way less than 20%. Now that's income tax ONLY. I didn't include Medicare or SS, which, if Congress would stop using it to buy votes from welfare cheats and illegals, we'd have a reasonable chance of a decent return. Yeah, I know: fat chance.
I truly don't know what our total tax bill is. We pay about $2k/yr for property taxes. Gas taxes are about 40% I think, so that's $280 ish so far this year. They say we work for the government until sometime in May. I guess that's right.
Doug, you just bought a new truck, right? In Florida, vehicles are taxed at the full rate for the county for the first $5K and 6% on the rest. The tax on a $40K truck would be $3,600 under Cain (I suppose) PLUS "only" $2,475 under the current system. That seems to make the tax on that truck over $6K. That's 15%!!
9% on $300 in groceries would be $27. For the most part now in Florida, it's 0.
I still need to read this stuff, but 9/9 (I ain't a corporation, but they'd pass it to me), seems that I would still pay Florida sales and property taxes on top of 9%. It would be a bear to run the numbers, but I gotta do it. This is too important to ALL of us to let the complacency continue.
