Always liked this guy, even when I didn't like the character. Great performance in "The Dirty Dozen"

It's too bad he died, though I will say that he lived a long successful life. I was a big fan of Airwolf when I was a kid, one of his lesser known roles since they didn't mention it in the article. RIP Ernest.

One of the "shows" I remember best was McHale's Navy. In some ways it reminded me of my time in the Navy.

"From 1962 to 1966, Borgnine -- a Navy vet himself -- starred in "McHale's Navy" as the commander of a World War II PT boat with a crew of misfits and malcontents."

He was also a brother Mason. RIP Ernest.

I had the great honor of meeting him when they filmed escape from new york.they filmed some of it in saint louis.my brother was working security back then and took me down there.he was a great person,super nice to everybody on the set.also got to meet kirt russel and of course adriane barbo.all i can say kirt was a real nut case and joker and adrian she was a real btch.R.I.P. Ernie
