Prep for Winter

As we get closer to winter, what kind of prep are you doing on your trucks?

What kind of "O-Damnit" kits are you putting together for roadside self recovery or recovery of others?

What is in your truck in the event you get stuck on a shut down (ice storm, bigass wreck) interstate for a couple days?

Understand that not everyone has an Arctic Expedition class truck, and a lot of people don't even have 4wd.

My own kit has a variety of things-
In toolbox in the bed-
Cable Comealong, tow straps, tow chains, heavy "junk" blanket (whiplash killer for the chains), farm jack, small "D" handle midget shovels, plumbers propane torch, basic ratchet / socket set, tire plug kit, , , muck boots, work gloves7 gal airtank, fire ext, super thick "waxed" canvas tarp.

In small packs in the back seat-
Good insulated coveralls, stocking cap, extra thermal drawers / tops, sleeping bag, poncho liners (its an Army / Marines thing), Jetboil stove and coffee, flannel lined work pants, Duluth Trading winter coat, various lights, flashlights, extra ammo.

Under the back seat-
Case of water, box of granola bars, 2 boxes of breakfast bars, roll of leaf & lawn style trash bags, couple rolls of toilet paper and a pack of diaper wipes.

We're a lot of help right?

Just the basics with antifreeze and a good warm up before hitting the road.

My biggest concern is getting a good under carriage wash/rinse after the roads have been treated for ice.

We dont have really harsh weather in my area. However if the roads arent dry I leave red parked and use the tow pig. I'll throw some 50# bags of sand and a snatch strap in the bed and she's good to go.
