Forced to surrender

Edward Zivica, a 70-year-old who served in the Navy in the 1960s, faces a hard choice come Veterans Day next week: He can obey the rules and remain in his apartment complex, or he can follow his tradition of hanging the American flag outside his place.

The managers at his subsidized housing project in Springfield, Ore., have given him notice he'll be evicted if he again violates the rules against putting anything on the exterior walls.
----------------------------------
Its like i know the apartment has to have rules for not allowing people to hang things or everyone in their dog will be hanging everything. But still! Dudes a Vietnam VET and hes hanging it ONE DAY.

Of course you allow him to hang his flag, doesn't that just set the standard to allow anyone to hang any flag? Or do you deny the others because this IS THE USA! This isn't YOUR country, you chose to move to the USA so why continue to fly YOUR FLAG?!

Anyway, thats my Friday Rant...

I don't know? I have mixed ideas about this. I can understand there are rules and their biggest argument is "...preventing a precedent that could lead to more-controversial flags or banners." I would be willing to say that Arizona is "NOT" the only state that has Mexico flags flying over our turf or painted on the side of buildings. It peeves me, as well as others, off! I can see why they don't want to invite an incident. The problem here is, what ever happened to being a proud American? I know we're a "bag of mixed nuts" in this country, but we are still Americans...At least those of us that acquired citizenship by legal means and don't live here on a perpetual visa. So why is it we have to hide from that fact lately? We buckle, we cave, when we should change the rules and the laws! Not give in when some nambie-pambie group wants it their way (islamic law by example and BTW if we Christians had to give up blue laws and are forced to work Sunday then they can take their islamic law and shove IT!!! *spit*). You got me going now! There are so many things slipping through the cracks it not even funny anymore (nor was it ever). The little dog (privatized businesses) have become so afraid of the big dog (feds), that it's forced to make stupid rules or operate by stupid rules and it seems the big dog is afraid of even a bigger dog (what I like to call foreign terrorist in this country with controlling interest). Edward needs to "Damn the torpedos" and fly the flag! Someone like Edward, or maybe even Edward himself, needs to put the shoes of this country on the right feet again!

BTW Last paragraph - That so-called flagpole with the small flag should be brought to the attention American Veterans Association or similar group (Boy Scouts) and I would be willing to bet that they would replace the whole set-up through donations!

Unfortunately Edward has to do what is best for his situation. I have a flag pole in my yard and I fly my flag daily. Maybe he should take his flag and go out on the side walk and sit in a folding chair and just wave his flag for awhile to make his point. Anti American bastards.

The wording above means that he unfortunately has forfeited some of his 'freedom'. I do hope he can fly his flag

My Take,
