I'm wanting to put a locking cap on the gas tank but cant find one here that works. Dodge dealer here in new Zealand can get me one for $150 which seems a bit extreme.
Any suggestions???????

I wouldn't buy anything from that dealership ever again...

A Mopar locking gas cap will cost you anywhere from $20 to $40 USD.

Here's one website but there are many other places to buy. Check out 3rd Strike Performance as well.

Be sure to buy an OE locking gas cap... off-brand caps sometimes do not fit well and will actually cause a DTC (engine light) for the evap system.

I bought one for mine way back. Doubt if I paid more than $20. I haven't locked it for a while now, since it's nearly impossible to siphon the tank anyway. Someone wanting to steal gas will just drill a hole in the tank.

Correct me if I am wrong, but having a locking gas cap really isn't necessary because sticking a hose into the tank to siphon the fuel out is impossible. Among the twist and turns of the filler tube and having that flap at the start, isn't there baffles along the filler tube? I thought I read about that subject somewhere...Hmmmm? Yet a quicker way for gas theft to happen is punching a hole in the tank and filling their containers. Here again, I thought I read something like that happening to a member here?

Edit: I am the slowest typist...^^^What Mike said above!^^^

thanks for your replies. I'm not so worried about fuel theft, but someone putting unwanted things in the tank or just ripping of the screw cap..
Down here a Ram truck is seen by many as a luxury item and there are many who vent their jealousy with vandalism.

You might also consider an aftermarket locking gas door - that's what I did

Hey Mark...I have a new one I never used. Let me see if I can locate the thing. How had would it be to ship it to you....customs wise?
I think I know where it is but it's storming outside so I'm not going to walk down to the shop...
If it will rain instead of just sprinkle and lightening I'll be pleased.
