Thursday and Friday we all raked the leaves in the back yard. Yes it took us two evenings to get it done. Here's the leaves all bagged up on the way to the dump.

It was all sticks and leaves. I my county you have access to the dump with a sticker, that is included in your property tax.

You know... you could get a composter and save yourself a big headache of going to the dump - the sticks are great starters for a fireplace too...

We only rake 1-2 times a year, so I can't justify the expense of a composter.

"Once upon a time" the cost was included in property tax here as well. Then the clever bastards discovered this thing called "user Pays" and a load of green waste in the back of the truck is now $16. The same amount of general rubbish is now $36. These exciting new charges run hand in hand with annual increases in property tax of around 6per cent.

They explained it to me very carefully suggesting its this thing they call "inflation". I was honest with them and said they had lost me after they told I had "never had it so good."
