Right here in Marshall County. The Eggner's Ferry Bridge that crosses Kentucky Lake between Aurora, KY and Land Between The Lakes was hit by a large vessel last night and two spans fell. One span is still laying across the bow of the vessel. Fortunately there were no injuries either on the boat or on the bridge. This bridge was scheduled to be replaced in a couple of years. Unreal! This will affect traffic in this area for a long time.

More local coverage.

I've saved over 100 photos of all this along with 16 videos. This is a terrible situation, but it is historic at the same time. Nobody was hurt, but this will be one of the biggest stories of 2012 for this area. My bet is someone will operate a ferry boat temporarily. A ferry used to work there before Kentucky Lake was formed by the Tennessee River....thus the name Eggner's Ferry Bridge.
