Anyone installed K&N 57-1533 CAI on a 2004?

I got a K & N CAI 57-1533 for my 2004. The instructions show mounting the saddle bracket to a bolt on the cylinder head. On the 2004 that bolt is inaccessible due to what looks like to me to be the TCM? Where do you install the bracket since that bolt is covered up? Waiting to here from a K&N tech but am getting impatient.

What your looking at is where
the EGR connection is made at
the head. Your going to have to
use the bracket that mounts to
the passenger side intake
resonator bolt hole.

Thanks Beast. Do you mean use the stock bracket (was there one?) or do you mean modify (bend) the bracket sent with the kit to reach that passenger side resonator hole?

No, your kit is suppose to have
both brackets. The parts diagram only shows the one that mounts
off the front of the passenger side
head. The instructions talk about
the use of the other bracket if you
can't mount it on the front of the
head. You will need to find yourself
a 6mm X 1 machine screw to secure it
down. That is the thread of the screws
that hold down in the intake resonator.
Those are not really designed to be
removed all that easy. The kit does
not come with a that screw. Only the one
that secures the bracket to the head is
included. Also, be aware that the "L"
bracket that comes with the kit may
not work with the 04 Ram. The windshield
washer tank is differnt tha a 03 Hemi
Ram. They had to make a different bracket
for me because of clearence issues with
that bracket.

Well, I've got the 57-1533 on I bought from 04Hemibeast. First let me say that if you ever buy anything from him and he says it's like new, He's NOT kidding. He even went to the trouble to pack it in the box at least as good as the factory, if not better. Thanks.
As for the sound, I only notice it under hard acceleration and I love it. I already took it on a 50 mile round trip I use to measure changes, reset the overhead computer and got 2.6 more MPG. BTW, I did NOT disconnect the battery at anytime during the install. Power seems a little better at low end and a WHOLE lot better mid and top. Really noticed a difference when kicking down a gear to pass. One more happy K&N camper

Thanks for the info Hemibeast. My L bracket for the washer reservoir worked fine but I looked again through the box and couldn't find any extra bracket, nor did my instructions say anything about a different saddle bracket piece. I bought my mine in March 04 from O'Reilly's so I wonder if the 04 kit with the different bracket was out yet. I did call one of the K&N techs and he didn't know anything about the EGR and thought everything was the same as the 03. He wants me to send pictures of the engine to show him that that bolt head is inaccessible. I was able to bend the bracket to work in the resonator hole like you said. Seems to be working OK. Before I used wire ties to go around the tube and the heat shield to keep it supported. No problems.

Actually, I never told you to
bend the bracket. You should not
have had to do that if you used
the correct one. It should have
been the longest metal piece
in the kit. Round hole on one end
(that is where the shinny saddle
piece attaches to. The other end
is slotted and that is the side
that attaches to the resonator
bolt hole. Send me a PM with your
email address and I will give you
my email. You can then send me
pictures of all the pieces or
a macro focus picture of the instruction
sheet.

I didn't mean to imply that you told me to bend it. I meant that you mentioned to use the passenger side resonator hole. (Misleading sentence on my part) As for an alternate bracket for the saddle, I'm positive that my kit only had the one that is shown to be mounted to the cylinder head. My instructions never mention an alternate bracket. My instructions are the same ones you can download on K&N's web site. I will try to e-mail you to compare kits. Thanks.
